‘Motaki’ in the local language, Setswana, means ‘artisan’. Kirsty Barclay, founder of Motaki, aims to create an environment where raw local talents come together and create confident furniture pieces.
Sande Greer formed Mukwa company along with a hockey pitch for the renown ‘Mukwa Leafs’ team. Using Mukwa and pine wood. the team produce custom-made, solidly-made furniture.
Sandi Albertson,Director of ‘Wild Artefacts’ is based in Maun. Wild Artefacts is currently assisting a remote Ju/koansi San (Bushmen) community in Western Ngamiland, to produce and sell traditional crafts.
Merewyn created Hellooow Handmade to combine her love for creation, beauty and philanthropy. Hellooow is a South African community upliftment program where women come together aad make various jewelleries and chandeliers.
Esther & Maipelo
Esther Kotewa and her partner, Maipelo, have been producing ceramics since 1997. Esther is passionate about the art of ‘throwing’ – the process from the time the clay touches the wheel to the time the wheel is stopped.
Ledule, known to most as Lead, runs a welding operation called Martial and Partial Investment in Boseja, Maun. He works on cars through to custom furniture pieces. Reliable and talented, Lead will customise to any alterations needed.
